This free online course from the International Network of Health Promoting Hospitals & Health Services (HPH) gives you practical knowledge, evidence and tools to help create healthier healthcare settings for patients, staff and communities.
Across 7 modules and 7 live webinars – supported by a dedicated e-learning platform – you will learn from international HPH experts and explore topics including workforce health, behaviour change, health literacy, equity and diversity, age-friendly care, climate impact and health-promoting environments. The course also looks at how health promotion can be embedded into organisational structures and sustained in practice.

FAQ
How will I access the Moodle platform after registration?
- First, you will receive a confirmation email with the link you need to access the Moodle platform.
- You will then be asked to log in using your name and a password that you can choose yourself.
- Once you have logged in, you will automatically be directed to the Moodle homepage, where you will have access to the course.
Is prior knowledge of HPH required?
No, not at all, the MOOC is open to anyone interested in health promotion in the health care sector. Sessions will gradually build on each other, starting with building a common understanding of what health promoting hospitals and health services mean to applying specific tools for measurement and improvement of health promotion.
Do I have to attend all the webinars to complete the course?
No, it is not mandatory to attend all the webinars. However, we would be very happy if you could participate in as many sessions as possible and take part in the learning journey with us.
Will there be any minimum participation requirements to receive a certificate?
We will not test attendance of individual webinars. However, at the end of the MOOC there will be a voluntary assessment exercise based on the contents of all webinars. Even if you haven´t attended all sessions, the eLearning platform will provide the background and knowledge to pass the assessment. Upon successful completion, a certificate will be issued.
Could the materials and case studies be used for a self-directed learning course in the future?
We plan to build further educational offers as part of the global HPH strategy and encourage active. non-commercial use of the materials shared via the eLearning Platform (under Creative Commons License CC BY-NC 4.0*).

Will the course materials be available in different languages?
No, the entire course will be held in English. However, AI generated transcripts will be enabled for the sessions.
Will I be able to ask questions and discuss topics directly on Moodle?
Yes, absolutely! We hope that there are lots of comments and questions. Depending on the number of participants, we will either encourage to use the chat which will be moderated and questions channeled to speakers, or direct questions.
How much time should I expect to spend on the course outside the webinars?
You should expect to spend approximately 1 hour per week on the course outside of the webinars. In addition, you may want to reserve a little time prior and post webinars to review materials if you wish.
