Prof. Dr. Jürgen Pelikan 

1940 – 2023 

 It is with immense gratitude that we remember the life and career of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Pelikan, a pioneering figure in the establishment of HPH, a true visionary, leader, and mentor.  

Jürgen’s impact in the establishment of HPH was significant and he was instrumental in the network’s growth and success. As a prolific author, with numerous publications on health literacy, HPH, and health promotion, Jürgen’s insights have influenced and inspired many people in the field.   

He has made a lasting impact on the HPH community, and his legacy will continue to live on through the many friends, students, and colleagues he inspired. The International HPH Network will honor his memory by continuing to carry on his work for years to come.
