Why become a member of the International HPH Network?
As a member you will have the opportunity to be a part of the International development of health promotion and disease prevention. The International HPH Network is a knowledge hub where collecting and disseminating new knowledge is a core element and where members has access to best evidence, practice, and outcomes.
The International HPH Network is a driver of major international research projects and collaboration, which can only take place in large multi-centres design, hereby utilizing the unique platform of the International HPH Network. What types of institutions are eligible for HPH membership?
Two types of institutions are eligible for HPH membership:

1. Any entity that sees patients is eligble for a regular HPH membership. Please click here to apply for HPH membership online.

2. Any health service institution that does not see patients is eligible for affiliated membership. Many entities join this way, for example universities. Please click here to learn more about affiliated membership.
How do I apply for HPH membership?
The process which you need to follow in order to apply for HPH membership depends on whether or not a National/Regional HPH Network exists in your country or region. Please click here to see a complete list of National/Regional HPH Networks.
Any new institution applying for membership must fill out and submit the HPH Letter of Intent. This letter affirms the commitment of your hospital or health service to abide by the HPH Constitution and aim to implement health promoting activities, strategies and policies. How do I apply for HPH membership if a National/Regional HPH Network exists in my country or region?

If a National/Regional HPH Network exists in your country or region, you should contact your National/Regional HPH Coordinator. Please click here to see a list of National/Regional HPH Coordinators and their e-mail addresses. To send an e-mail to your National/Regional HPH Coordinator, simply click on his/her name.
Once you have established contact to your National/Regional HPH Coordinator, he/she will ask you to fill out and sign a Letter of Intent and send it to him/her. This letter affirms the commitment of your hospital or health service to abide by the HPH Constitution and aim to implement health promoting activities, strategies and policies.
Usually, you can choose either (1) to print, sign, and scan a copy to send by e-mail or (2) to print, sign, and send your original Letter of Intent by post. You should ask your National/Regional Coordinator how he/she prefers to receive your Letter of Intent. The National/Regional Coordinator will then also sign your Letter of Intent and forward it to The International HPH Secretariat where it will be archived.
Upon the receipt of your Letter of Intent, The International HPH Secretariat will prepare your membership certificate and a welcome package. The membership certificate along with the welcome package will be sent to your National/Regional Coordinator who will forward it to you. We will also send an invoice to your National/Regional Coordinator for administration.
As you may have guessed by now, the National/Regional Coordinator functions as the link between the Network Members (i.e. the hospital/health service members that are part of a National/Regional Network) and the International HPH Secretariat. There is no National/Regional Network in my country or region. Can I still become an HPH member?
Of course! There is no requirement that a National/Regional Network exists in your country or region in order for your hospital/health service to become a member of The International HPH Network. In fact, we have many individual members all over the world. Just click here to check out the list of all our hospital/health service members.

Once we have received your Letter of Intent, we will send you an initial annual invoice. Once you have paid this invoice, you are officially a member of the International HPH Network. The director of the International HPH Secretariat, Professor Hanne Tønnesen, will sign your Letter of Intent and your membership certificate, and we will send you a copy of your signed Letter of Intent, your membership certificate along with a welcome package.
I would like to start a National/Regional HPH Network in my country or region. How do I achieve this?
Forming a National HPH Network requires a minimum of three hospitals or health services. The assigned HPH Coordinator and the Coordinating Institution enter into a Network Agreement with the International HPH Secretariat. In the Network Agreement, you can read more about the formal requirements for creating a National HPH Network. Please note that there is no requirement to form a National/Regional Network in order for you to be a part of the International HPH Network.
